Edinburgh Airport today announced that United Airlines is to extend its seasonal service between Edinburgh and Washington DC to virtually year-round.
Already flying daily during the summer season until October 25, the airline’s non-stop capital-to-capital service will continue into the winter season on a five-times weekly basis, operating from October 26, 2025, until January 5, 2026.
From March 29, 2026, the service will revert to a daily operation. With this route extension, United is increasing its seat offer from Edinburgh by almost 10%.
United’s extended service between Edinburgh and Washington DC builds on existing daily year-round flights from Edinburgh to New York/Newark, doubling from once to twice daily during the peak summer season, as well as a daily seasonal service between Edinburgh and Chicago O’Hare.
United is the only airline offering year-round service from Edinburgh to the US and offers more seats and flights from Scotland to the US than any other airline.
“This is fantastic news as we see United adding yet more growth at Scotland’s busiest airport,” said airport chief executive, Gordon Dewar.
“Taking this service to almost year-round shows the clear demand for direct connections between Scotland and the USA, and with three routes from Edinburgh Airport, it’s also a huge show of confidence in the airport as United’s base in Scotland.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing United expand its presence during the winter months, and with already strong North American connectivity, we will continue to work on adding even more direct services where possible.”
