Miami International Airport is expecting more than 900,000 passengers this Memorial Day weekend from Thursday, May 22, to Tuesday, May 27, averaging 156,000 travellers per day – a volume similar to last year’s record-breaking holiday weekend.
The gateway notes that South Florida’s rainy season, from May to October, “brings refreshing afternoon showers and dramatic skies that are part of the authentic Miami experience”.
These quick bursts of tropical weather, it adds, offer a welcome break from the heat and often give way to stunning sunsets.
“As Miami International Airport prepares to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors this Memorial Day weekend, I want to thank the incredible MIA team and our community partners for ensuring a safe, smooth, and welcoming experience,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
“MIA continues to shine as a global gateway to our vibrant and diverse community – proudly connecting travellers to all that Miami has to offer, from our beautiful beaches and parks to world-class museums, Michelin-rated restaurants, and so much more. We truly thank our passengers for choosing MIA.”
