Philippine Airlines (PAL) is significantly enhancing its presence in the North American market with a substantial expansion of its flight services to key destinations in Canada and the United States. This strategic move aims to capitalize on growing travel demand and solidify PAL's position as a leading nonstop carrier between the Philippines and North America. The expanded schedule, set to roll out in November and December 2026, includes increased frequencies on popular routes, as well as the introduction of new services.
The flag carrier will be increasing its weekly flights on several high-demand routes. Starting November 17, 2026, the Manila-Vancouver route will see an increase from seven to ten flights per week. Following suit, the Manila-Toronto service will be boosted from three to four weekly flights, commencing December 5, 2026. In the United States, the Manila-New York (JFK) route will also see an uplift from three to four weekly flights, effective December 2, 2026. During the peak holiday travel season from December 2026 to January 2027, a fifth weekly flight will be added to the New York service to accommodate increased passenger volumes.
Adding to the excitement, PAL is also launching a new nonstop route to Chicago, with three weekly flights scheduled to commence on November 9, 2026. This new service, along with the increased frequencies on existing routes, forms a crucial part of the airline's long-term network growth strategy. The expansion is designed to strengthen Manila's role as a premier gateway between North America and Southeast Asia, fostering tourism, business, investment, and cargo opportunities across the Pacific.
To support these expanded operations, PAL is progressively introducing its new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The additional flights to Toronto and New York will initially be operated by the Airbus A350-900, with a transition to the A350-1000 as more of the new type join the fleet. The A350-1000 will also commence service to San Francisco in August 2026, offering enhanced premium seating and boosting PAL's competitiveness on the US West Coast.
PAL President Richard Nuttall emphasized the importance of the North American market, Stating, "North America continues to be one of Philippine Airlines' most important markets. As travel demand grows, these additional flights strengthen our position as the preferred nonstop carrier between the Philippines and North America while providing our customers with greater choice, improved connectivity, and more opportunities to travel, do business, and reconnect with family and loved ones." The expanded network is also expected to improve connectivity through Manila to various Southeast Asian destinations, as well as benefiting from PAL's partnerships with other airlines for onward connections across North America.^
